Time to stock up…

November 26th, 2010

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the drop in temperature (brrr!) and maybe  some of you have already had snow this week – winter has arrived! As we enter December, it’s time to start stocking up (not just for Christmas!) but just in case you get snowed in, or can’t face the cold, you don’t want to end up having to do without milk in your drinks and on your cereal.

Thankfully, Delamere Dairy produce a UHT Goats’ milk and a sterilised Cows’ milk; meaning whichever milk you prefer, with a carton/bottle of this in your cupboard, you’ll never have to have a black tea or coffee if your fresh supply runs out!

Available from selected stores of Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Booths, Co-Op, Budgens, Nisa, Londis, Ocado, Spar, Waitrose and Wholefoods you shouldn’t have a problem finding it next time you go shopping either.

Ah-choo! It’s that time of year again..

October 22nd, 2010

It’s approaching that time of year again when we stock up on tissues, cough sweets and vapour rubs in attempt to keep the sniffles at bay. The winter months are when it would seem everyone from playgrounds, transport and work places are suffering with viruses, coughs, colds and fevers.

Have you ever thought that changing something as small as the milk that you pour into your tea could help you though? When you’re struck down with a cold, you’re told to avoid dairy as it aggravates the system and seems to encourage more phlegm.

Although goats are a dairy animal, goats’ milk is often classified as a ‘dairy free’ milk in the same category as soya, rice and oat milk.

Around 1 in 6 people in the UK need an alternative to cows’ milk, goats’ milk can be the ideal substitute since it has all the goodness of a dairy milk in terms of calcium and vitamins, but often doesn’t aggravate the conditions that cows’ milk can. It is non-mucous forming so when suffering from a cold, it won’t add to your congestion! As well as being non-mucus forming, goats’ milk actually helps to neutralise mucus which can provide dramatic relief to those suffering from catarrh. For children with perpetual runny noses, a switch from cow’s milk dairy products to goat’s milk can bring almost instant relief. Hurrah!

So next time you pop out to get a lemsip – pick up some goats’ milk too!

Come and taste the best of the North West!

October 21st, 2010

Tomorrow we’ll be packing up our delicious cheeses and taking them down the road to Tatton Park where the North West Food Lovers Festival will be taking place until Sunday.

We’ll be tasting and selling our cheese with over 120 other food stalls- celebrating our North West heritage and showcasing the best produce that our wonderful county has to offer! They’ll be guest chefs too, including Simon Rimmer from Something For The Weekend doing cookery demonstrations.

If you’re  fond of food, stuck for ideas for the weekend or, our favourite – a die hard Delamere fan, come along and say hello! It will be the perfect opportunity to sample our entire range- including our award winning honey and herb goats’ cheese logs (see below). It promises to be a great weekend and don’t worry about the weather- it’s all under a marquee.
